Sauvignon Blanc

Dating back to France in the 18th century, Sauvignon Blanc is known and recognised by wine connoisseurs all around the world. The translation of ‘sauvignon’ – sauvage ‘wild’ and ‘vigne’ ‘vine’ & ‘blanc’ being ‘white’ connects deeply with the varietals relatively new history in New Zealand.

In the early 1970’s, Sauvignon Blanc vines first made the journey to New Zealand and herein lies the beginning of our love affair with this very distinctive varietal. This crisp, dry and aromatic style has an array of characteristics which include fresh cut grass, tropical fruits and citrus. Our winemaking is relatively straightforward and the minimal intervention approach and simple processes such as the use of stainless steel for fermentation allows for fruit expression.
